Ariel Planning Honda-Powered Superbikes

Ariel might be a small, British sports car manufacturer, but it has made a big impact with its Atom sportscar.

This minimalist two-seater has won the approval of not only the motoring press, but also with its customers, who see it as the ultimate in no-frills motoring. Some even call it a four-wheel motorbike.

Now Ariel is preparing to launch a umm… two-wheeled motorbike!

According to Ariel boss Simon Saunders, a superbike will be offered by his company in 2012. He also says this superbike will be inspired by the Atom and will also feature a Honda engine, although he didn’t specify which Honda engine.

Saunders mentioned that he plans on building between 100 to 200 bikes per year, each custom made for its owner. With prices expected to start from about $30,000, it won’t be cheap, but given Ariels experience in building exciting machines, we bet it’ll be worth every cent.
